Question : What is Creative Connections?
Answer : Creative Connections is an organisation which has been set up by The Northamptonshire Arts Partnership to support and help develop creative businesses in Northamptonshire. We aim to contribute to the overall job growth agenda in the County and seek to act as an advocate for creative businesses.

Question : What type of help and support do you give to businesses?
Answer : We sign post businesses to opportunities (which includes business development, skills development, funding advice, workspace rental, exhibition space etc) and to other organisations which offer specific support services. We offer a networking opportunity for creative practitioners and work with Regional and local agencies to ensure that the creative business sector is placed at the centre of the growth agenda

Question : Why should my business register with the Creative Connections database?
Answer :
  • Our website and database offer a showcasing facility for your business
  • You will receive up to date details of what is happening for creative businesses in the region
  • You will receive regular invitations to our business/skills development seminars

  • Question : Do you have funds to support business ideas and development?
    Answer : We are not set up to directly provide funding but can often signpost businesses towards opportunities. We have a small amount of money for projects which we spend thus:
  • We fund a small grants scheme for business start up and for new businesses. This offers £500 per business/start up and is available through The Business Support Network in Kettering. (email link)
  • We fund 5 x £1000 training and development bursaries delivered by The Northampton University (from September 2006)

  • Question : How are you funded?
    Answer : For 2005-2006 we receive our funding from each of the Local Authorities in Northamptonshire and The Arts Council England East Midlands (The Northamptonshire Arts Partnership)

    Question : Do you only provide support for creative businesses based in Northamptonshire?
    Answer : Yes

    Question : What is meant by the term ‘creative industries’?
    Answer : The creative industries are film, music, the performing and visual arts, crafts, broadcasting, advertising, industrial and other kinds of design, architecture, publishing, computer games, computer services, the art and antiques market and fashion.

    Question : Why does The Northamptonshire Arts Partnership support creative industries development?
    Answer : Creative businesses are an increasingly valuable component of the economic activity of Northamptonshire. The creative industries generates a turnover of £729 m for the local economy and employs more than 10,000 people, with more than 1500 VAT registered companies in the County. The creative industries sector represents 7.7% of the total VAT enterprises in the County and employs 4.2% of the total employment of all enterprises.
